Tirimok (est. Tiirimok)
Seasonality: Winter
Tiirimok – An old Estonian folk variety originating from Saaremaa Island (Tiirimetsa village). This apple tree is a true symbol of northern hardiness, highly valued for its resistance to adverse weather conditions and diseases. Although less common in large commercial orchards, it is very popular among home gardeners seeking reliable and healthy fruit trees.
Appearance: Fruits are medium-sized or slightly smaller, round-conical, sometimes lightly ribbed. The skin is firm and smooth, yellowish-green, but almost entirely covered with a beautiful, flushed red blush. The apples look very attractive and uniform.
Taste: The flesh is yellowish-white, dense, juicy, and pleasantly crisp. The flavor is sweet-and-tart, well balanced, with a distinctive aroma. It is an excellent dessert apple for those who appreciate a classic, well-balanced winter apple taste.
Tree characteristics: The variety shows very good winter hardiness and, importantly, strong resistance to scab and other fungal diseases. It bears abundantly and fairly regularly. The fruits are harvested in late September and, under controlled storage conditions, keep well until March or April.
