Redkroft

Seasonality: Winter

Redkroft – a relatively new variety, developed in 1996 in Poland at the Skierniewice Horticultural Institute. It was created as a dessert apple for commercial orchards, combining excellent appearance, disease resistance, and long storage life. In Lithuania, this variety is quickly gaining popularity due to its “commercial perfection” and good adaptation to the local climate.

Appearance: Fruits are medium to large, roundly conical, and very uniform. The skin is smooth, firm, and almost entirely covered with an intense, dark red, glossy blush. The bright color makes the apples look very decorative on the tree.

Flavor: The flesh is creamy white, firm, crisp, and very juicy. The taste is sweet-tart, well-balanced, with a pleasant aroma. It is a typical modern winter apple favored by many consumers for its texture.

Tree characteristics: The variety has an early and very abundant yield. One of its main advantages is high resistance to apple scab and powdery mildew. Fruits ripen from late September to early October and store very well under controlled conditions until March or April.
