Seasonality: Winter (late)
Baltarusijos Sinapas – A late winter apple variety developed at the Belarusian Research Institute of Horticulture by crossing ‘Antaninis’ with ‘Kandil Sinap’. This variety was created to combine the hardiness of ‘Antoninis’ with the excellent storage qualities of the Sinap group. In Lithuania, it is valued as one of the most reliable varieties for having apples fresh until mid-spring or even early summer.
Appearance: Fruits are medium to large, elongated-cylindrical or conical, and fairly uniform. The skin is firm, smooth, greenish-yellow, later turning bright yellow. On the sun-exposed side, a faint brownish blush may appear. The fruit surface looks clean and aesthetic.
Taste: Flesh is greenish-white, very dense, crisp, and juicy. Flavor is fresh, sweet-tart, with a light aroma. Fruits are fairly firm at harvest, but their flavor matures during storage, becoming more harmonious.
Tree characteristics: Trees are vigorous, forming a broad, moderately dense crown. The variety has very high winter hardiness and good resistance to scab and other fungal diseases. It yields early and abundantly. Fruits are harvested in early October and, under controlled conditions, can stay crisp and high-quality until May.
