Seasonality: Winter (late)
Evelina – a color mutation (clone) of the popular variety ‘Pinova’, originating from Germany. It was developed to achieve an even more attractive appearance while preserving the excellent flavor characteristics of ‘Pinova’. This is a modern variety that today dominates European retail shelves due to its “commercial perfection.”
Appearance: Fruits are medium-sized to large, round-conical. Compared to its predecessor ‘Pinova’, it differs in that almost the entire skin is covered with a uniform, intense, bright red blush. The skin is firm but easy to bite through.
Flavor: The flesh is yellowish, very firm, crisp, and juicy. The taste features an excellent balance of sweetness and acidity and is highly aromatic. The apples remain crisp for a long time even when stored at room temperature.
Tree characteristics: Trees begin bearing fruit very early and produce abundant, regular crops (not prone to biennial bearing). The variety shows good resistance to powdery mildew and is moderately susceptible to apple scab. The fruits have exceptional keeping quality—when stored in cool conditions, they can remain high-quality until mid-summer (June–July).
