Slava Peremozhtsyam

Seasonality: Summer (late)

Slava Peremozhtsyam (Ukr. “Glory to the Victors”) – a variety developed in 1928 in Ukraine (Mlijevo Horticultural Station) by crossing 'McIntosh' and 'Papirovka' (Alyvinė). It is one of the most successful varieties from this region, valued for its excellent taste and exceptional juiciness. In Lithuania, it is especially popular in amateur orchards, filling the gap between summer and autumn apples.

Appearance: Fruits are large or medium-sized, regular, round-conical in shape. The skin is smooth, thin, light green, but almost entirely covered with a bright red or dark pink blush with a light waxy coating.

Flavor: The flesh is pale yellow-white, very tender, airy, and incredibly juicy. The taste is excellent, dessert-like, sweet-tart, with a pleasant, strong aroma. It is one of those apples that simply “melts in the mouth.”

Tree characteristics: The variety has good winter hardiness and moderate resistance to apple scab and powdery mildew. It produces abundant yields but tends to thin naturally. Fruits ripen from late August to early September. As a late summer variety, its shelf life is short, but under controlled conditions, it can remain fresh for 1–1.5 months.
